TAKE THIS JOB... (2003)
Episode Nine "Vital Signs"
There are 82,000 people currently waiting for organ donations to stay alive.
Vital Signs follows a two-person team of Organ Recovery Coordinators (Jennifer Johnson and Chris Herring) in Oklahoma City who place organs for transplant with the recipients who need them.
We follow these specialist nurses as they make a 48 hour nonstop "race against the clock" to turn the tragic accidental horse-riding death of a 15 year old girl, Amanda Westermier, into the gift of life for three desperately ill people, including a 9 year old boy who receives one of her kidneys.
The episode builds to a moving final scene when Amanda's parents meet the recipients who, out of their daughter's tragedy, have been given a new life.
