FAMILY PLOTS (2004)
Episode Descriptions Five Through Eight
Episode Five - Forget Me Not
Embalmer, Shonna prefers the dead to the living - at least when it comes to her work. She would be happiest if she could strictly stay in the back room preparing a deceased. Doing funeral arrangements with families stresses her out, because she tends to get too emotionally involved. Unfortunately for Shonna, it's her Saturday to work, and she's the only one available to help a grief-stricken woman make funeral arrangements for her beloved uncle. Funeral Arranger, David Moravee is her polar opposite; although he has never touched a dead body, and tries not to even look at them, he's perfectly comfortable dealing with a family whose mother has died after many years of dementia. Meanwhile, Chuck is having problems with his own short-term memory, as he repeatedly loses the money he needs to buy his new car.
Episode Six - Heavy Baggage
Boxing pro Chuck recruits John to help hang a heavy bag to relieve stress at the mortuary. As Chuck sees it, the Poway team can take their hits on the bag instead of each other. Chuck's boxing therapy begins with his daughters, but soon it's John who needs it most. Apprentice embalmer, and Funeral Assistant, John Greeney has seen it all when it comes to death. A former crime scene body remover for the medical examiner, he has a strong stomach and a fascination with forensic medicine. But John's tough exterior shows signs of cracking when he faces the delicate situation of arranging for a child's burial. As John meets with the family, memories of a personal tragedy of his own come back to haunt him. Chuck steps in with fatherly support, and teaches John what it means to be a fighter.
Episode Seven - Girls Night Out
The three Wissmiller sisters - Shonna, Melissa, and Emily - have planned a rare night on the town together, but obstacles begin to mount in the shape of childcare emergencies, jealous husbands, and last minute body rushes and death calls at the mortuary. As they try to put out the fires and get their much needed "girl time", Chuck and John plan their own "boys" night out.
Episode Eight - Please Date Our Dad
Chuck needs a date, and though he doesn't know it yet, his daughters are going to play matchmaker and find one for him. He likes them young and pretty, but the girls think they can make a better choice. Secretly they sign him up on an internet dating site, and the whole mortuary gets in on the act. David (who met his own wife through the web) provides the know-how, Rick helps write Chuck's profile and Emily and Shonna vet the prospects. Meanwhile, David arranges the funeral for a reclusive woman who died without family or friends, making him realize how lucky he is to have found his own wife. Will Chuck have the same luck?
